I didn't get the job...but I did get...

some big canker sores in my mouth from the Bactrim I took to get rid of my face infection...ah, just lucky lucky lucky, I guess:-)

The condition is called Erythema Multiforme and for those playing along, it was the first reaction I had to the antibiotic after my mouth surgery in late 2007, soon to be followed by the second reaction-the superbug attacking my system and shredding my tummy...

Yeah, I stopped the Bactrim right away...hoping it's not too late to escape the worst...nighty night!!

I love you lots, and I miss you more-

My Saturday with Ben..and Barbie

Auntie Beth woke up on Saturday with an even MORE swollen eye...yep, the cut got infected!!! I had to call the doctor, get several medicines and I am miserable...
PRETTY!
I feel 100 years old!!!
Ben was very weirded out by my eye for the first hour of my visit, so I waited to take photos until hour 3...my cutiepie actually posed for this photo for me...something he's never done for me before!!!

I had to post this one because it looks like an Annie face:-)

How cute is my boy???

He's getting so big!

Ah yes, where would we be without our 30 minutes of playtime with the toys on the hearth right before bed...it's how I know Ben's ready to sleep:-) If I wait at least 10 minutes, I can usually pick Ben up at any time and put him into bed without a peep...but he does need that 10 minutes...it's a careful science!
After Auntie Beth got a shower and started the medicines, she felt a wee bit better...yes, I wore this Barbie Bandaid all day Saturday...and I wore a different Barbie Bandaid all day Sunday on my playdate with Cyrus...Auntie Beth Rules!!!
I love you lots, and I miss you more-

Auntie Beth Gets Surgery-Part 2

This time Auntie Beth needed to remove the sunspot, beautymark, mole thingie on her left eyebrow bone...so Dr. M. cut a small part of my skin out for a biopsy and then burnt off the rest...I didn't feel it at all, at least until the numbing agent wore off:-)
Right after my appointment on Thursday, my eye was swollen and I had to keep the fresh cut/burn covered...Auntie Beth looks so tired with her droopy eyes:-)
Just a closer look at my beautiful bandage...so many strangers looked at me with pity on the way to my car at the hospital, and I got many encouraging smiles as I walked in the post office...

On Friday, Auntie Beth took off the bandage to reveal a very swollen & throbbing eye...the red mark in the center is where Dr. M. cut for tests...the area around that mark may only look swollen but it is actually raw as well...the laser burns and closes off the blood flow to the wound so there is no blood, just raw open nerve endings...OUCH!
I lowered my eyelid a bit so you could see all the swelling...but I can really only open that left eye halfway anyway...
...which looks more like this when I smile...opened a bit wider when I'm not smiling...
Yesterday I realized that I arch my left eyebrow alot when I speak...I stopped doing that pretty quickly when I felt the resulting pain:-)
The good thing is that now Auntie Beth is DONE with her tests and everything is fine, and she got it out of the way and she is healthy...but it also explains why Auntie Beth skipped a day of blogging!
I'm getting back on the pilates horse on Saturday, followed by my playdate with Ben...and of course, Sunday is my rescheduled playdate with Cyrus...we are seeing "The Spy Next Door" because "The Tooth Fairy" changed its first day in theatres to next weekend...
When you kids go back to school on Monday, Auntie Beth has to start working 60+ hours a week on taxes, so I'm gonna do my best to enjoy my last weekend of freedom!!!
I love you lots, and I miss you more-

My Wednesday...and our visit to Buckland Mall right after Christmas

I just got back from a screening of Avatar in 3D. I saw it with my friend and old neighbor Kevin in the Arclight Dome. Then we went to Kitchen 24 to have breakfast for dinner...that is always a good time:-)
Tomorrow, Auntie Beth has to register for a casting service and have the beauty mark on her eyebrow melted off...yes, melted off...I did not have the courage to ask how they do it! I will be fine, promise:-)

Julia and I had our day on December 30th...we had lunch at Ming Dynasty by ourselves and then Julia asked if we could pick up Annie for the mall...Auntie Beth did not get any photos of Build-A-Bear because she was busy helping make stuffed animal decisions, but on the way out of the store we spotted some fun-the Christmas Train was still running!

Julia and Annie wanted to bring Frosty and Goldie, their new Build-a-Bears, on the ride...this is what I got when I asked Annie to smile...Julia is trying to get her to smile "for real":-)

Julia, smart cookie that she is, gave up and let Annie do her squishy face thing and made sure she smiled for Auntie Beth:-)

OK Annie is on the left going backwards, Julia is on the right...look for the blond or light brown hair...the girls were very excited for the ride, and even asked if two dollars was very expensive...bless their hearts!
What you can't see is that Annie had a racecar shopping cart for around the mall that Julia and I took turns pushing her...so Annie was all decked out!
Julia was so cute, waving every time she went by...Annie was a bit distracted by all the sights and of course chatting with Julia in their little box car...

Annie finally noticed me on the 8th time around, when Julia had finally gotten sick of waving...or got interested in the JC Penney's sales...maybe Julia's got a bit of that shopping gene in her;-)

Our finally destination-back to Auntie Beth waiting with the 2 Build-A-Bear boxes, shopping bags, jackets, scarves all shoved into a racingcar shopping cart...I looked like I had at least 4 kids with me, not 2!
So we headed over to Friendly's for our icecream, and there was the playground in the center of the mall...Annie almost jumped out of her skin when she saw all these new kids playing on cool stuff...and Julia thought it would be a very exciting idea to try the stuff out...sooooo nice when both kids are in agreement on what to do next! The flash was getting all weird so these shots are very dark...but this is Annie & Julia in the boat...they really enjoyed each other that day:-)
Julia chose to play on the more advanced parts of the playground so it was hard to get her photo...too many big kids blocking my view...but Annie was a whole 'nother thing...at first, Annie just milled around and watched other kids, I swear she was assessing size and strength...
Once Annie got going, she was unstoppable...pushing right through the hollow log fearlessly...
I almost jumped in when a few big kids ran past Annie to use the toy she was headed for, or brushed past her without noticing her...but I thought I might do Annie a disservice by not letting her learn that sometimes you have to act fast to get what you want...if any of the kids had actually touched her, I'd have gone nuts of course:-)
Annie walking on the raft...she was checking out all the other kids and didn't look once in 7 minutes to see where I was...I love her trust that I am right there for her...because once she was ready to go, she scanned the crowd quickly to find me:-)
I've never really seen Annie timid before, except when she does her "shy" around people thing...but this was different...I realized it's because Annie did not know ANY of these kids...not siblings or cousins, just kids her own age sharing the toys...I think it surprised her a bit...
Julia came back to us from the bigger kid area and we went off Friendly's where icecream was had by all...a very good day indeed!
Thanks Julia for sharing your day with Annie, and for letting me spend time with you...our fancy lunch as you called it was awesome, and my first trip to Build-A-Bear was fun...you were so good with Annie!
I love you lots, and I miss you more-

What a Beautiful Tuesday...and Our School Day with Molly:-)

I just got back from a late dinner with my friend Robert at my favorite restaurant, Miceli's. The waiters take turns singing at the piano while we eat. Mostly Broadway tunes, but I've heard Disney Classics and the Muppets:-)
Auntie KK and Auntie Meg went here with me when they visited Los Angeles 2 years ago.

Now, let's relax and go back to December 23rd, Molly's gingerbread house day. Annie & I came in to drop off some supplies and ended up staying for the rest of the school day!

Do you think Molly was happy to see us? Notice the dress and tights on Annie...she picked them out herself because she knew we were going to see Molly at school!
Annie wasn't trying to get away, just dizzy:-) Molly is a great big sister! I was just so delighted to see Molly's classroom, classmates and of course to bring Annie with me in her Dora dress...

I love this photo...Molly is always so open and joyous, and Annie usually won't give me a real smile if I ask for one...can't you feel the sisterlove coming off this photo?

Then it was time to go upstairs to have the 6th graders help Molly's class build gingerbread houses...Molly's house was creative and beautiful...and delicious I bet:-)

Molly never ceases to amaze me...once Molly knew she was done and that the house was pretty, she was happy...all the kids were trying to figure out how to get their gingerbread houses home in one piece-not sure how that could EVER happen-but Molly told me not to worry, that it was ok if her house broke now...what a cool kid!
Although Auntie Beth was not up to the challenge of having Annie make her own gingerbread house-a frosting debacle was foreseen-Annie did help Molly...at one point in the session, Annie (observed closely by Auntie Beth) was helping students at another table entirely...all Annie wanted was unbroken candy canes...and since she is so adorable, the kids went above and beyond to find them for her:-) I had to stop the count at 5 little unbroken candy canes or I'd never scrape Annie off the ceiling...
The girls in Molly's class swarmed Annie, trying to pick her up, hold her, play with her hair...to the point where Miss Kelly asked Annie if she was ok with all the attention:-) At one time there were at least 7 girls running around Annie...but then it was story time, and Molly put Annie in her lap so the hubbub would die down...I have never seen a kid get sooo much attention from so many other kids-it really was like Annie was a princess! look how natural Molly looks with her sister on her lap...
The final part of Molly's schoolday was a pizza party. One of Molly's classmates was absent, so Annie got her own desk area, complete with pizza and her sippy cup "just like a big girl"...the kids watched "Frosty the Snowman" and Annie seamlessly became part of the class...

I love to see moments of Annie when she doesn't know anyone is watching...precious, precious I tell you...
Molly was amazing with Annie, so very proud of her little sister and wanting to protect Annie and make sure she had fun...Thank you Molly for sharing your class with us that day...Annie & I had a great time!!!
I love you lots, and I miss you more-

My CT trip...funny photos...

Unlike Kasey, Auntie Beth does not tend to take out the camera when you guys are looking particularly cute, or doing adorable things...I only remember the camera when I want to capture silly little events we have when we are together:-)

The minute my camera case fell out of my bag in the car on the way to Auntie Kake's, Annie was in gimme gimme gimme mode...so I took the camera out, asked her to pose and this is what she gave me...GIMMEEEEE the Camera, Auntie Beth:-)

So we went into Auntie Kake's office at Amazing Grace to await her return-my Mom had run out for a pickup-and Annie was convinced that she alone could capture our adventures together...I got a bit too close here...but not bad centering for a child who held her eye flat against the digital screen...Annie would not, no matter how hard I tried look at the screen to see what she was photographing...I think she secretly liked to close one eye and look professional!

Annie's next attempt...I only show it because she was adamant that she wanted a picture of the dek drawers and she got it spot on!

As soon as Auntie Kake got back, the phone started ringing...Annie sat on Auntie Kake's lap very patiently, all the while playing with Auntie Kake's glasses...

I was mesmerized by Annie pushing the glasses farther up and farther down her nose, looking at every corner of the room, seemingly unbothered by how blurry it must've been for her...no instinct to take them off, just good ol' fun for her whatever way it turned out...so precious, my Annie:-)

But don't worry, once Auntie Kake got off the phone, the glasses were forgotten so there wasn't any damage to Annie's eyes...at 7 minutes, I would've hidden them from her anyway:-)

Annie has found the Christmas M&Ms! In all fairnss, Annie was offered the candy first so her focus was understandable...our visit to Amazing Grace was on December 22nd, but it feels like just last week...missing Annieboo dreadfully...and jealous of her new Dora big girl bed!
As for the present day, I had a great seminar tonight called "Living an invented life:My Life, My Design"...it's about how many people let life happen rather than planning a really exciting and beautiful life...I have created my life so I can get to CT alot and I love it...but there are areas of my life that I do not set up the way I want them to go...then they go whichever way life circumstances take me...not inspiring AT ALL...sorry Moms, some words and concepts to explain there to the kiddies:-)
I love you lots and I miss you more-

Playdate Cancelled:-(

Hot on the heels of finding out my playdate Cyrus has a fever and can't go to see "The Princess and the Frog" with me today, I find out the girls in CT are going to "Princesses on Ice" without me...
Yes, Auntie Beth is in California working like crazy to get her life and apartment ready for tax season. Cyrus is the son of my tax clients, Polly & Ben...Cyrus and I met 3 years ago when I shared my Valentines candy from Mom with him at my old tax office...we've become fast friends and do 6-8 playdates a year, plus of course our annual tax appointment followed by a family dinner!
Cyrus turned 7 in October and is growing up far too fast for my liking:-) Once February hits, Auntie Beth will have no time for playdates, so Cyrus and I rescheduled for as soon as possible...next Sunday we are going to see "the Tooth Fairy" together...we are both very excited about this movie so we should have an absolute blast!
No photos yet but just blogging at all was a big step for Auntie Beth today...so bear with me and love me anyway...
Shout out to Lucas on his 9th Birthday today...Auntie Beth loves you...I already called his mom's cell phone and left him a birthday song but still...HAPPY 9th BIRTHDAY, LUCAS!!!

I love you lots, and I miss you more-
